Tibet’s political and religious leader, the Dalai Lama on Friday May 1 held a meeting with over 100 overseas Chinese academics, students and China experts at Harvard University. The event included a question-and-answer session and a discussion on the Tibet-China issue. In what was described by Chinafreepress as a “very frank airing of views”. the Tibetan leader presented a detailed summary of his negotiation efforts with Communist China.
One imagines his Chinese audience would have been delighted by his acknowledgement that Tibet is part of the so-called People’s Republic of China and that he is striving for what he described recently as minimal autonomy.
