Kelsang Gyaltsen Regards His Own People as a Chinese Minority

Efforts by the exiled Tibetan government to surrender Tibet’s rightful nationhood and independence continue. At a Tokyo press conference today (May 20th) Tibetan spokesman, Mr. Kelsang Gyaltsen informed journalists at Japan’s Foreign Correspondents’ Club that the Tibetan side is ready to resume negotiations with communist China. In an orchestrated effort to spread their message of appeasement a number of Tibetan envoys are visiting Asian countries on a mission to convince Beijing of a Tibetan willingness to accept Chinese rule. Mr. Kelsang Gyaltsen is one of a number of Tibetan officials who promote so-called ‘autonomy’ for Tibet and has met with communist Chinese leaders on a number of occasions.
Addressing the press conference Gyaltsen claimed that Tibet is asking for autonomy, not separation from communist China, he must not have witnessed the ongoing protests across his homeland in which Tibetans are sacrificing their freedom, lives and well being for Tibetan independence! Clearly not a supporter of an independent Tibet Gyaltsen insisted the drive for ‘autonomy’ was:
“So that the Tibetan people are able to preserve their own culture, religion, language and identity in their homeland,”.
As indicated by previous comments from Tibetan leaders, most noteably Samdhong Rinpcohe, the Exiled Tibetan Administration is now seeking nothing less than a form of autonomy, first promulgated in the infamous so-called 17 Point Peace Treaty of 1951, http://www.friends-of-tibet.org.nz/17-point-agreement.html which China imposed upon Tibet after illegally invading and occupying the region in 1950.
Gyaltsen claimed that the Tibetan Administration had engineered a ‘road map for self-government’. What he failed to make clear to the press was that such an objective would not afford Tibetans any genuine political, cultural or civil autonomy, as the proposal sought would conform to ‘autonomy’ as dictated by Beijing and its communist constitution. Not much progress there then! Tibetans, remember the name Kelsang Gyaltsen and take note of his comments:

Given these treacherous and capitulating words it’s clear that officially the Tibetan Administration acknowledges its people as being a Chinese ‘minority’. While any future security of Tibetan society, will it hopes, be protected by the very same constitution which has for over fifty years supressed and eroded Tibetan culture. While this insane strategy is played out to appease Beijing, inside Tibet the Tibetan people continue their struggle for independence, makes anyone wonder whose side the Tibetan Administration is on?
