According to the BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/8194138.stm which has recently been extended a detailed interview with the Dalai Lama, the Tibetan leader has conceded that the Tibetan issue is an internal matter of communist China. During the interview the Dalai Lama is reported to have stated that: “The Chinese government considers our problem a domestic one. And we also.”.
This comment follows similar statments made by Samdhong Rinpoche, who during a televised interview http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRJFe-e-txI responding to Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao accusing the West of exploiting the Dalai Lama] Samdhong replied:
“If there is any truth, they should establish with evidences. As far as the Tibet issue is concerned, we have nothing to do with Western countries. We consider this is an internal matter of the People’s Republic of China, and if the People’s Republic of China is willing to deal with us as an internal matter, we are absolutely ready.“
If both of these leading Tibetan figures, as political heads of the Tibeten Government in Exile recognize the legitimacy of communist Chinese national and regional jurisdiction over Tibet, then they must surely acknowledge that the exiled Tibetan Administration cannot possibly possess any political or legal authority. This raises a number of extremely grave questions regarding the status and lack of authority of those Tibetan envoys, who are negotiating with the communist regime. They act not as official plenipotentiaries of an exiled Tibetan Government, but as private officials of the Dalai Lama, who is unilaterally making decisions on behalf of six million Tibetans!
