Chicago Tibet Rally Honors Tibetan Cause

Image:jigmeugen/RTYCMN

A highly forceful rally for Tibet’s independence has come to a close outside the Chinese consulate in Chicago. Hundreds of Tibetans and supporters came together to demand justice and freedom for Tibet. The 10th March 2010  is the 51st Commemoration of the1959 Lhasa Uprising, when Tibetans rose up against the brutal oppression of China’s military occupation. The spirit of resistance and hope for freedom and justice today burns as brightly across Tibet, despite decades of colonization and attempted assimilation. In solidarity with the aspiration of Tibet’s national liberation, Tibetans from all over Illinois and Minnesota  assembled in Chicago to honor the courage and sacrifice of Tibetans, and call for an end to the tyranny of China’s illegal occupation.

The event has been a huge success and congratulations should be given to the Regonal Tibetan Youth Congress Minnesota and other organizations who worked so hard to make this even happen. Special mention must be made to Jigme Ugen, who once again has served the Tibetan cause with great determination, intellegence and passion.

Tibettruth wishes to express its appreciation to RTYCMN, Jigme and to a number of our subscribers and friends, who have worked so closely to promote this event, and ensure that the voice of Tibetans inside Tibet was not ignored. One nation, one people, one solution-Independence for Tibet!

Swiss Tibetans’ Rangzen-March On Bern

A reported three hundred Tibetans and supporters marched through the Swiss city of Bern today to demand freedom and jutstice for Tibet, the Tibetan national flag was prominent, as were chants for Free Tibet, We Want Justice and Long Live Dalai Lama.

During the procession protestors were marshalled by a noticeable police presence, which was most numerous at the Chinese Embassy, with a heavy presence of security forces.  A delegation of around ten people were allowed through the armed ranks of security personnel to present a communciation denouncing the oppression inside occupied Tibet. Not that the Chinese staff were too happy to open the door, seems they were rather intimidated by being being exposed to the truth of their illegal occupation of Tibet.

The event organized by: Tibeter Gemeinschaft Schweiz Liechtenstein TGSL, Tibetische Frauenorganisation TFOS, Gesellschaft Schweizerisch Tibetische Freundschaft GSTF und Verein Tibeter Jugend in Europa VTJE

Grateful thanks to Ramona Tibet for the images and great support for Rangzen

Whose Aspirations?

Image:archivepress

Although I have clearly articulated Tibetan aspirations, which are in accordance with the constitution of the People’s Republic of China and the laws on national regional autonomy, we have not obtained any concrete result. Judging by the attitude of the present Chinese leadership, there is little hope that a result will be achieved soon. Nevertheless, our stand to continue with the dialogue remains unchanged…..As a free spokesperson of the Tibetan people I have repeatedly spelled out their fundamental aspirations to the leaders of the People’s Republic of China” (emphasis added) (Extracts from March 10 Statement by HH The Dalai Lama 2010)

Many people will be asking what is meant by “Tibetan aspirations”? Does this refer to the wishes of the Tibetan people? If so what evidence supports an assertion that Tibetans inside Tibet are facing torture, prison and bullets for an aspiration, defined by and contained within communist China’s constitution?

As revealed by the decades of resistance to Chinese rule, the widespread protest of 2008, and presently, the common aspiration remains for national freedom and independence, a reality recognized by His Holiness:

“I also know that every Tibetan hopes and prays for the full restoration of our nation’s independence” (HH The Dalai Lama March 10-1994)
