Welcome to the psychotic and violent world of communist Chinese thinking, a mindset obsessed with control, nationalism and the questionable achievements of its fossilized socialist ideology. Surely though, China is a progressive and modern economy experiencing rapid growth and modernity, a consumerist success story in the wings, and increasingly influential global force? Well partly yes, however that polished image, which is peddled by an uncritical international media, and supine governments hypnotized by China’s economic allure, is also a carefully calculated propaganda construct.
One that distracts from the darker reality that despite such economic progress and social change China remains a totalitarian state that sustains power through a violent ideological tyranny of its citizens, and a merciless exploitation of occupied territories such as Tibet and East Turkestan.
Human nature being what it is those seeking personal gain from cooperating with China have a highly developed ability not to recognize the oppression, injustice, censorship and state violence. It is a lucrative and utterly self-interested state-of-denial that emphasises China’s economic advancement while ignoring the reality that beyond the expanding steel and glass skylines of Chinese cities and the expanding availability of consumer products and services, a draconian grip remains firmly in place that ensures compliance and servility to the communist state.
Some would argue that the degree and extent of control and suppression has in fact increased under cover of the glossy distractions of consumer China. Pathologically convinced in the supreme correctness and validity of its political and social ideology, the communist Chinese communist party, has terrorized its people (and those of occupied nations like Tibet and East Turkestan) since 1949, presided over the deaths of countless millions through its insane policies, such as the so-called ‘Great Leap Forwards‘, which resulted in mass famine and the inquisitorial madness that was the so-called ‘Cultural Revolution’ which inflicted unimaginable horrors and left corpses scattered across the land.
Through such periods, and on into the modernizing of the 1990’s till present, China’s communist party has remained an untouchable authority, playing self-serving political deceits upon its people. It has been ruthlessly contemptuous of public concerns, operated a corrupt governance, at a national and regional level, and always been prepared to crush any sign of dissent which threatened its authority.
Those who are blinded by the social and economic progress that greets the visitor to any of China’s major cities, would do well to remind themselves of the unchanged tyrannical nature of the communist Chinese regime.
