Tibetans & Friends Gather To Honor Jigme Norbu la

Deer Park Tibetan Temple-Wisconsin

Feb 19, 2011. A traditional Tibetan style temple in Wisconsin hosted a gathering of Tibetans who came together to offer prayers for the late Jigme Norbu la, a hero to his compatriots, and a much loved person within and beyond the Tibetan community. The respect and affection in which Jigme was held was evidenced by the large numbers of people who streamed into the temple to pay their respects and show support for a tireless advocate of Tibet’s national freedom.

This event was organized by WTA and RTYC WI, which commenced with  a minutes silence in rememberance of Jigme prayer were then conducted,  followed  by an address from members of WTA and RTYC. A particularly poignant moment came when Jigme  friend, Kunchok Gonpo la shared his thoughts and recollections of accompanying Jigme on his Walks For Tibet.  A sum of $500 was collected for the cause, with a determination among all in attendance to raise more, which will be donated to a children’s trust fund that Jigme supported.

With grateful thanks to Kunchok for the image and information
