Breaking News: Day 32 Indefinite Hunger Strike Called Off Following UN Response

The indefinite hunger strike, demanding action from the United Nations on Tibet, has been called of following a response to the Tibetan Youth Congress from Mr. Yuri Afanasiev UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative. The President of the TYC, Tenzin Jigme described this development as “..a victory of the Tibetan people”.

No doubt details of the UN’s statement will be revealed shortly and any such information will be posted here as soon as it’s available. Meanwhile our very best wishes and respect to the Tibetan hunger-strikers for what has been a remarkable protest, their courage, sacrifice and determination has attracted international support. We have been honored to stand in solidarity with their action and wish them a speedy and full recovery.

Let’s hear it too for our Twitter colleagues @tibettruth who have been 24/7 active in reporting on the hunger-strike and getting the word out there, a shout-out also to those anonymous hacktivists who have been actively supporting the Tibetan Youth Congress over the past few weeks. Thank you to everyone who responded to our call to email and tweet the United Nations in support of the demands made by the TYC hunger-strikers, your action is a powerful reminder that together we make the difference!
