December 23 2019 The Chinese regime forcibly removed nearly three thousand Tibetan herders from their traditional lands in Nagchu region of U Tsang, occupied Tibet.
Tibetans were rounded up and forced onto a number of convoys which headed off to Gongkar in the South of Tibet.The traditional Tibetan nomadic culture has been targeted for eradication, Tibetans who enjoyed the independence of living across Tibet’s grasslands and mountain valleys are promised a dream life of prosperity in ‘socialist paradise villages’.

What they get is a miserable existence in a concrete concentration camp, where they are entirely dependent upon their Chinese oppressors for fuel, food and power supplies.

Despondency, depression, alcoholism and other psychological illnesses become the new norm. This is precisely the broken and servile condition that China’s tyranny calculated, as part of its campaign to eliminate Tibetan cultural and national identity.

This is horrible along with their kidnapping and forcing their will on the Ouigher people. The Chinese leadership is only proving to the world how extremely cruel due to their own fear and stupidity. They due not honor people’s individuality and human rights. So sad and disturbing.

Roger, we note your comments and from the perspective of ‘socialism’ as a political theory, envisaged by its great thinkers the point you make is valid. However the Chinese regime describes itself as ‘socialist’ and it is that perversion and its vicious expression which the article really refers to. Thanks for your interest and we hope you share our concern at the terrorism being waged against occupied Tibet by the Chinese Communist Party and its ruling elite.
You should be more careful how you read posts. The punctuation tells you all you need to know about the author’s intent in using the phrase. SMH.
Samo. thanks for commenting. We kinda got Roger’s point and in response hoped to have detailed the salient points as to the article’s use of such terminology. While we did indeed employ a punctuation convention when referring to those concentration camps, it was not for irony or sarcasm, although that would be entirely justified. The truth is that the Chinese regime and its propaganda mouthpieces describe them as ‘socialist paradise villages’ For sure that’s a long way from Engels and indeed Marx, who was utterly opposed to imperialism and colonialism, the very driving forces which resulted in the invasion and occupation of Tibet in 1950. In a way Roger’s response suggested he was less concerned with the fascist-like abuse of Tibetans by China than socialism being associated with such violations, something of a red-herring fallacious response.
Damn the Chinese.
This is exactly the way people are now being controlled and no longer free to produce food in traditional ways which is beneficial to people and the environment .

It is a matter of record, not just from within our own resources and information but also other human rights agencies that the Chinese regime has for some years now been operating a program of forced relocation This targets Tibetan nomads and eliminates their cultural and national identity in forcing them into concrete settlements, where their former self-sufficiency is replaced by dependency, control, and a number of social and psychological problems that inevitably follow. Now of course you may (for whatever reason) choose to deny this reality, perhaps you harbor a sympathy or admiration towards the Chinese regime and its vicious perversion of socialist values. If so you would not be the first political troll to offer an ‘objective’ comment here. Well for the purposes of communication and to serve as an example your remarks have been published.

Catharina, that’s an important point you raise, we’re not aware of any specific petition, but there are bodies within the UN who should be active on this issue. It may be helpful in a number of ways to create one that can be used to both lobby the UN and also in doing so raise awareness and attract support.
This is tragic, afraid for these people’s future if they’re removed from their natural habitat and made dependant on the regime . There is every chance of them being exploited. Hope that doesn’t happen

What China is doing is wrong. They have a reason we may or may not be aware of. The reason does not make it right but it does help add perspective to the fight. Natural resources for wealth are always a reason why countries do inhuman things to indigenous populations. Human nature rationalized with political ideology.
I have worked on the plateau for a mineral exploration company for a few months. Where I worked the nomadic people were treated fairly however that may have changed depending on what was found.
Helen, of course those who find their lands invaded and placed under military occupation usually witness the callous exploitation of natural resources. In itself that is bad enough, especially in terms of ecological impact, but with Tibet’s case the forced relocation of Tibetans into concentration settlements is not simply about unfettered access to such resources. It is one key strand in a policy that has, as a matter of record, the objective of eliminating the cultural and national identity of the Tibetan people. That, in association with the mass transfer of Han Chinese, plus a program of foirced sterilizations that has traumatized countless Tibetan women is justly described as cultural and demographic genocide
