Kongpo is a region of occupied Tibet, renamed as so-called Nyingchi by the Chinese regime. It lies in the southern eastern area of Tibet next to Kham and bordering to the south the neighboring countries of India and Myanmar. A land of waterfalls, lakes, steep river valleys and rich forests, although much of that has been plundered by Chinese logging companies.

It is home to sacred mountains and ancient traditions. Including the native Tibetan religion, Bon. Then the Chinese invaded in 1950 and now the culture and environment of Kongpo has been ruthlessly oppressed and exploited, it is not tradition, Buddhist or Bon philosophy that Tibetans enjoy, those rights have been removed, but an enforced loyalty to the communist Chinese party ideology and its dictator Xi Jinping. Every town and village is subject to regular indoctrination events, attendance is of course obligatory, failure to show public support and loyalty receives a range of penalties including fines, detention, torture or forced labor.
