Was The Greed Of Chinese Mining Corporations Behind The Tibet Flood?

With hundreds of Tibetans, Nepalese and foreign nationals reported as killed or missing by the flood in both Tibet, and downriver in Nepal, focus is naturally upon the suffering and loss which this event has inflicted.

Yet even as bodies are being recovered, amidst the destruction resulting from the catastrophic surge, this disaster is being linked as supposed ‘evidence’ of climate change. Of course there’s no direct and proven detail that such a process caused glacial breakage and resultant flooding. The claim seems drawn instead from a report issued by the U.S Geological Survey (USGS). Which reported initially (8/8/26) an earthquake of magnitude 4.4 occurring some 55 km NW of Kodāri̇̄, Nepal, but then revised that to seismic activity as produced by glacial breakage. This was picked up by global media and widely reported as a factual cause of the resultant devastation.

However, what triggered this deadly event may equally be attributed to human activity, in particular mining!

The Tibetan area of Gyirong (which Chinese propaganda source, so-called iXizang, reported the USGS confirming was the location of the epicenter – “in the upper reaches of the Tsangpo River”. Is it coincidence that this same location is being exploited and surveyed by Chinese mining corporations, ever keen to cash in from occupied Tibet’s natural resources?

Within the geology of the mountains in that locality are deposits of Lithium, Beryllium, Niobium and Tantalum. At those tundra like altitudes, there are also snow and ice fields and connected glacial areas, all of which feed the associated river systems. As such any mining activity has the potential to cause a disastrous environmental impact.

We have been told that seismic disturbance was recorded at the location, yet in the hasty conclusion to assert a natural cause, what is being overlooked?

Secondly, glacial processes are of themselves highly dynamic and have numerous entirely natural factors; determining their stability, movement, accumulation, melting and depth. The claim that this event was inflicted by so-called climate change causing glacial breakage is a crass and cynical exploitation by those pushing an agenda.

There are however other factors that can impact glaciers, and those are mining practices! We must also consider mining directly into, underneath and across to expose underlying mineral bearing rocks and the use of detonations, which themselves may account for glacial breakage.

We know that Tibet is being stripped of its natural resources by the occupying Chinese regime and its corrupt corporations, it is well documented that little or no environmental consideration is given, with mining degrading, polluting and destabilizing Tibet’s once pristine environment.

Such corporations operate within the same area in which the USGS noted a seismic spike preceding the subsequent flood. With virtually no constraints, authorization from the Chinese regime and profit as the driving force, Tibet’s glacial and mountain ecosystems are of little concern, allowing practices which seriously impact the local, regional and transnational environment; and people.

The Tibetan, Nepali and many other nationalities who have been killed, or are missing in this latest catastrophic event may well have been the victims of an exploitative Chinese regime; and its irresponsible profit-obsessed mining corporations!
